FORMAT
Schools will compete in Pool Play for three sessions over the first one-and-a-half days with bracket play beginning Tuesday afternoon and the Final Round on Wednesday morning.
Each team match will consist of five individual matches. All individual matches within the team match will produce a result (3&2, 1 up, halved) and will not be played beyond the 18th hole.
An individual match win awards that team with one point. An individual match that remains tied after 18 holes awards each team with a half point. Once all individual matches are completed within a team match, the team with the greater point total will receive three points while the losing team receives zero points. If the match is tied at the end of all five individual matches (2.5 points to 2.5 points), both teams receive one point.
If there is a tie following Pool Play to advance to the semifinals, a 5-count-5 sudden death playoff will break the tie. A tie in the Semifinals will be broken by hole differential, then higher seed. A tie in the final match results in a 5-count-5 sudden death playoff.
ABOUT the COUGARSUnder the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by sophomore Chi senior Laurenz Schiergen, senior Jacob Borow, junior Hudson Weibel, senior Wolfgang Glawe, junior Bryant Hiskey II and sophomore Grant Doggett.
Hiskey owns the team's lowest scoring average with a 71.83 after shooting three sub-par rounds as an individual and tying for 23rd during the Bayou Collegiate Collegiate at Westwood Golf Club in Houston.
Borow and sophomore Chi Chun Chen are tied for second on the team with a 71.83 average with Chen leading the Cougars with five rounds of par or better. Chen will sit out the Big 12 Match Play Tournament while competing at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Taiheiyo Club Gotemba in Japan this week.
Schiergen tied for 12th with a score of even-par 213 to lead the Cougars at the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill., earlier this week. It was the best finish of his Houston career after transferring from Kansas State last summer.
