Houston partners with Big 12, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit to introduce Be You Women’s Empowerment series
IRVING, Texas – The University of Houston and Big 12 Conference announced participating talent and activation details for the 2023 Big 12 Homecoming tour on Friday.
The tour is a conference-wide celebration of the Big 12 brand, bringing three days of entertainment and community engagement to the campuses of Big 12 members. The first Big 12 Homecoming will take place in Houston on September 14, and will last throughout the weekend.
For each Big 12 Homecoming, the Big 12 has partnered with the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit to bring students the Be You Women's Empowerment series, presented by Maybelline.
The Houston event will be held from 11-3 p.m., Thursday in Fertitta Center. Admission is free and activations include one-of-a-kind experiences such as a beauty bar, giveaways, meet & greets with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models and the chance to get a professional headshot taken. DJ RaqqCity will be the guest DJ at the Be You Women's Empowerment series.
Morning Mix on Mix 96.5 host Sarah Pepper will serve as the moderator and will include panel discussions focused on women empowerment from TDECU Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer Sheiludis Moyett, Houston Dynamo Football Club Chief of Staff Jasmine James, Houston Rockets Vice President of Corporate Sponsorships Dawn Keen, NWSL and Houston Dash's Shea Groom and Houston First Corporation Chief Marketing Officer Holly Clapham.
SI Swimsuit models panel discussion will be focused on mental health awareness featuring Brooks Nader, Ellie Thumann, Nicole English Williams and Olivia Ponton.
Each Friday of Big 12 Homecomings will see a day of service, as Big 12 student-athletes and coaches will visit one elementary school to unveil a $50K makeover for a new STEM center as a part of the College Football Playoff Foundation's signature program, Extra Yard Makeover Project. The school receiving the makeover will be Houston's very own, Hobby Elementary.
Big 12 Homecoming activations will conclude on Saturday with a pregame tailgate takeover that includes a DJ performance and merchandise giveaway. DJ James Kennedy will perform at Houston on September 16.
