Cougars added 10 via transfer entering 2023-24, putting it at #15 nationally
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball program added a transfer class ranked at #15 nationally by D1Softball. The Cougars added 10 who have joined the team as classes started in August during the transfer period.Â
Â
D1Softball ranked the signing classes based on filling roster holes, adding talent and the transfer's years of eligibility remaining as well as a weighted Wins Above Average (wWAA) metric developed by 643 Charts. wWAA is designed to model the amount of wins a player adds to their team.Â
Â
The Cougars added the second-most wWWA among the 11-15 group, which D1Softball released on Tuesday. Houston added 2.2 wWAA, only behind Oklahoma State's 2.6 wWAA. Head Coach Kristin Vesely's squad outranked fellow Big 12 Conference newcomer UCF, who added 0.1 wWAA.Â
