Volleyball’s Morin Earns Houston’s First Big 12 Conference Player of the Week Honors

Junior middle blocker posted 19 blocks in the season’s opening weekend
HOUSTON – University of Houston Volleyball junior middle blocker Kellen Morin earned the department's first Player of the Week honors from the Big 12 Conference, the league announced on Tuesday. The accolade is Morin's first collegiate Player of the Week honor.
Over the course of the opening weekend's Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup, Morin tallied 19 blocks (averaging 1.73 per set), including a career-high nine against McNeese on Sunday. She also added 14 kills on only one error for a .542 hitting percentage.
Morin opened the weekend with five blocks against then-No. 22 USC and then followed it up with six on Saturday against Southern Miss and nine Sunday to close the weekend against McNeese. Morin also tallied five kills against both USC and McNeese, hitting 5-0-7 against the Cowgirls for a .714 hitting percentage.
UP NEXT
The Cougars start a nine-match road stretch that lasts over a month with a two-match tourney at Texas State. Houston starts the weekend at 4 p.m. Sept. 1 against North Texas and then wraps up the weekend with a 3 p.m. Sept. 2 match against host Texas State.
