ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON
Founded in 1927, the University of Houston is the largest public research university in Houston and the third largest university in Texas.
The University of Houston is led Renu Khator, who has served as chancellor of the University of Houston System and president of its flagship University of Houston campus since January 2008. President Khator broke boundaries and glass ceilings with these appointments, becoming the first female chancellor in the state of Texas and the first Indian immigrant to lead a comprehensive research university in the U.S.
The University of Houston enjoys an enrollment of more than 47,000 students, awards nearly 11,000 degrees annually, offers more than 275 undergraduate and graduate academic programs and has a $6.4 billion economic impact on the Greater Houston area each year.

Houston Zoo

The cougar mascots have a long history in Houston, although they haven't always lived at the zoo. Between 1947 and 1989, five live cougars served as mascots; since Shasta V's death in 1989, costumed students have carried on the tradition. A live cougar mascot returned decades later and was homed at the Houston Zoo.

The magnificent six-acre entertainment and dining complex is a 500,000-gallon aquatic wonderland, home to more than 300 species of aquatic life from around the globe.
With a full-service restaurant, an upscale bar, aquatic and geographic exhibits, shopping and a variety of amusements, Downtown Aquarium has it all.
