Volleyball’s Georgiades Named to U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team

Georgiades is one of 20 collegiate players to be named to the team
HOUSTON – University of Houston Volleyball libero Kate Georgiades was one of 20 players to earn a spot on the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team, USA Volleyball announced this week. She will train alongside the U.S. Women's National Team from June 18-24 in Anaheim, Calif., as the national team prepares for competition in the final preliminary round of the Volleyball Nations League.
Georgiades is one of three liberos given the call for the Collegiate National Team. She's also the only student-athlete selected from the American Athletic Conference and one of four selected for the team from the new composition of the Big 12 Conference.
This is the second consecutive summer that Georgiades has trained with the Collegiate National Team, having also joined the program last summer.
Athletes will be provided evaluation, feedback and individual development plans (IDP) that will be further accompanied by online learning experiences to help support them in a healthy and holistic way. Training will be aligned with the expectations of the U.S. National Team coaching and performance staff.
Georgiades earned her second consecutive Libero of the Year honors from The American in 2022 and received All-America honors from AVCA (Honorable Mention) and VolleyballMag.com (Fourth Team) after finishing with the sixth most total digs and 11th most digs per set in the country last season.
The College Station, Texas, native currently sits in first on Houston's career digs per set rankings with 5.40 and is in ninth on the team's total digs list with 1,350. She currently holds the fifth and sixth spots on the team's season digs list with 687 and 663 in 2022 and 2021, respectively.
