Cougars tied for eighth entering Wednesday’s Final Round; Super senior Annie Kim tied for 16th overall
PULLMAN, Wash. – University of Houston Women's Golf freshmen Moa Svedenskiold and Natalie Saint Germain each posted even-par 72s to lead the Cougars during the Second Round of the NCAA Pullman Regional at Palouse Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Battling temperatures in the 40s and gusty winds throughout the day, the Cougars finished with a team score of 292 Tuesday to tie for eighth with UNLV with a 36-hole total of even-par 576 on the 6,405-yard, par-72 course.
Starting off No. 1, Svedenskiold fell to 2-over through the first seven holes. Fortunately, the All-American Athletic Conference performer rallied, alternating birdie-par over a 5-hole stretch from Nos. 8-12 and was tied for 47th at 147.
Making her first NCAA Regional appearance, Saint Germain stood at 2-over through 14 but drained birdies on two of her final four holes to join Svedenskiold with a 72 Tuesday. The Prague native was tied for 24th overall at 1-under 143.
Super senior Annie Kim was tied for 16th at 141 to lead the Cougars while freshman Alexa Saldana was tied for 38th at 145. Junior Nicole Abelar was tied for 60th at 153.
#1 Stanford held the second-day lead with a team score of 541. #32 Texas Tech stood in second at 559 with #24 Clemson (561), #13 USC (563 ) and #12 Baylor (564) among the Top-Five leaders. Sacramento State (568), Cal Poly (575) stood ahead of Houston while #29 Kentucky (577) completed the Top 10.
Stanford's Rose Zhang continued to hold the individual lead at 12-under 132. Texas Tech's Shannon Tan was a shot behind while Stanford's Sadie Englemann stood in third at 134. Playing as an individual, Washington's Camille Boyd was fourth at 135.
The tournament wraps up with the Final Round beginning at 10 a.m. (CDT) Wednesday.

For Wednesday's Final Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Cal Poly and UNLV.
Abelar starts the day for the Cougars at 10 a.m. (CDT) off No. 10 with Svedenskiold (10:11 a.m. CDT), Saldana (10:22 a.m. CDT), Saint Germain (10:33 a.m. CDT) and Kim (11:44 a.m. CDT) following.

NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY
This marks the eighth consecutive season in which Houston was represented in NCAA Regional play. Houston has been represented in each of the seven NCAA Regionals with team appearances from 2015 to 2021.
Kim played as an individual qualifier at the 2022 NCAA Franklin Regional.
