Super senior shoots bogey-free 69 in Wednesday’s Final Round to lead Cougars
PULLMAN, Wash. – Competing in the final event of her collegiate career, University of Houston Women's Golf super senior Annie Kim fired a bogey-free 69 to lead the Cougars during the Final Round of the NCAA Pullman Regional at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
Kim finished the tournament with a score of 6-under 210 to tie for 12th. Her total also set a school record for the lowest 54-hole total at an NCAA Regional, topping All-American Leonie Harm's 212 at the 2018 NCAA Austin Regional (May 7-9, 2018).
As a team, the 37th-ranked Cougars posted a score of 7-under 281 on Wednesday and finished eighth with a three-day total of 857. The Cougars' Final-Round score was the lowest in NCAA Regional play in school history, besting Monday's total of 284.
Kim was one of four Cougars to shoot sub-par scores in the Final Round, a first in Houston postseason history. Freshman Natalie Saint Germain drained a team-high five birdies on the way to a 70 while fellow freshmen Moa Svedenkiold and Alexa Saldana each posted 71s.
Starting off No. 10 on the 6,405-yard, par-72 course, Kim was steady throughout the day. She sank her first birdie of the round on the par-5 17th hole with additional birdies on No. 1 and No. 7 for her fourth Top-20 finish of the season.
Standing at 2-over through her first seven holes, Saint Germain moved under par with three straight birdies with on the final two holes of her first nine and the first hole of her second nine.
Following her final bogey at No. 3, the Prague native added her final two birdies of the tournament on No. 6 and No. 8 to tie for 23rd at 213.
Svedenskiold quickly moved into red numbers with a birdie on her first hole but stood at 1-over after two bogeys in her next four holes. The Halmstad, Sweden, native proceeded to birdie three of her final four holes on her first nine and made par in eight of her final nine holes to finish with a 71 Wednesday and tied for 42nd at 218.
Saldana enjoyed three birdies on her first nine with another birdie at No. 6 on the way to her first NCAA Regional sub-par round and tied for 32nd at 216.
Junior Nicole Abelar finished with a score of 232 and tied for 61st.
#1 Stanford captured the team championship with a score of 814. The Cardinal joined Clemson (831), USC (838), Baylor (841) and Texas Tech (845) among the Top-Five leaders and will advance to the NCAA Championships.
Stanford's Rose Zhang earned medalist honors with a score of 19-under 197 to finish four shots ahead of teammate Sadie Englemann. UC Riverside's Tiffany Le finished third at 14-under 202 and qualified for the NCAA Championships as an individual.

NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY
This marked the eighth consecutive season in which Houston was represented in NCAA Regional play. Houston has been represented in each of the seven NCAA Regionals with team appearances from 2015 to 2021.
Kim played as an individual qualifier at the 2022 NCAA Franklin Regional.
