Houston to honor 20 seniors at Tom Tellez Invitational
HOUSTON – The University of Houston track and field team will honor 20 seniors on Friday for Senior Day at the Tom Tellez Invitational as the Cougars wrap up their regular season before the American Athletic Conference Championships May 12-14.

STARTING LINE NOTES
- Houston will honor 21 seniors on Friday covering every event type.
- The 21 seniors have accounted for 10 individual NCAA All-American honors, five NCAA All-American relay honors, eight American Athletic Conference individual event championships and three conference relay titles.
- The Cougars have 42 Top 8 individual marks in The American heading into the final week of non-championship competition.
- Houston has 10 conference-leading individual marks entering the final week of competition before the conference championships.
- Cougars currently hold 19 qualifying marks inside the top 48 of the West Region descending order list.
- Houston ranks in the top 10 nationally in four different events, including Shaun Maswanganyi's 100-meter dash time, De'Vion Wilson's 110-meter hurdles time, the men's 400-meter relay and Christyan Sampy's pole vault mark.
- Sampy tied the school record at the Texas Invitational on Saturday, jumping 5.55 meters for the second-straight meet.
- Maswanganyi won the 100-meter dash at the Penn Relays for the school's 10th time.
- Houston's 10 100-meter dash wins at the Penn Relays is the most all-time at the meet.
- The Cougars' 400-meter relay team won the Penn Relays for the fourth-straight year (2019-23). Houston is the third school, and first since 2005-08, to win four 400-meter relays consecutively, joining Morgan State (1953-56) and LSU (2005-08).
- Sydni Townsend moved to second all-time in the 400-meter hurdles by running 57.35 in the event. She is tied for second all-time and is second in The American.
- Claire Meyer improved upon her third-best program time in the 5,000 meters by running 16:36.08.
