Freshman earns postseason honor in first collegiate season
HOUSTON – After an impressive finish at the recent conference tournament, University of Houston freshman Moa Svedenskiold was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team on Tuesday.
Svedenskiold was one of 12 student-athletes named to the All-Conference Team and was the lone Houston representative.
ABOUT MOA SVEDENSKIOLD
Competing in her first season with the Cougars, Svedenskiold has been a consistent leader throughout the 2022-23 season.
She has posted a 71.63 scoring average with 19 rounds of par or better, including nine in the 60s to lead the Cougars in all three categories.
The Halmstad, Sweden, native has led the Cougars in five of the 10 tournaments in which she competed.
In only her third collegiate event, Svedenskiold fired back-to-back 68s in the final two rounds and captured the individual title at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 23-24, 2022.
She became the first freshman to win a tournament and accomplished that feat in the fastest time in school history.
In the Cougars' most recent action, Svedenskiold fired three straight sub-par rounds, with a 68 in the Second Round, and finished second with a score of 8-under 208 at the American Athletic Conference Championships at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., on Feb. 17-19.
It was the best finish at The American Championships by a Houston freshman in program history.

Tulane's Carla Bernat was named the league's Player of the Year while SMU's Michelle Zhang was recognized as Freshman of the Year. SMU's Lauren Mason was honored as the Coach of the Year.
Svedenskiold was joined on the All-Conference Team by Bernat, Zhang, Jess Baker (UCF), Anna Nordfors (UCF), Tunradda Piddon (UCF), Pimpisa Sisutham (UCF), Melanie Green (South Florida), Mackenzie Lee (SMU), Lauren Miller (SMU), Ellie Szeryk (SMU) and Lilly Thomas (Tulsa).
