Men’s Golf Finishes First Day at Aggie Invitational

Final Round begins Tuesday morning at Traditions Club
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Houston Men's Golf sophomore Wolfgang Glawe fired a 69 in the Second Round of the Aggie Invitational to finish the first day at even-par 144 and tied for 20th at Traditions Club.
Starting the afternoon off No. 10 on the 7,227-yard, par-72 course, Glawe moved under par with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11-12 and added another birdie on the par-5 15th hole.
Following his lone bogey of the round at No. 16, the St. Leon-Rot, Germany, native added his final birdie on his final hole of the day.
As a team, the 47th-ranked Cougars posted a score of 294 in the First Round and bettered that by seven shots in the afternoon session to tie for sixth with Sam Houston at 581.
Playing as an individual, senior Marcus Wochner was tied for 26th at 145 while junior Santiago De La Fuente and sophomore Jacob Borow were tied for 31st at 146. Super senior Braxton Watkins was tied for 47th at 148 while senior Austyn Reily was tied for 54th at 150.
#33 Louisville held the first-day lead at 556 to finish 11 strokes ahead of host and 15th-ranked Texas A&M. #38 TCU stood in third at 569 with #24 Baylor (578) and Little Rock (580) rounding out the Top Five.
Individually, Louisville's Max Kennedy held the first-day lead at 7-under 137 to stand one stroke ahead of Texas A&M's Phickaksn Maichon and Louisville teammate Sebastian Moss. TCU's Gustav Frimodt stood in fourth at 139.
The Cougars will begin the Final Round with a 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, split-tee start on the 7,227-yard, par-72 course.

For Tuesday's Final Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from North Texas and #41 LSU.
Reily will start the day at 8 a.m., off No. 10 with Watkins (8:10 a.m.), Borow (8:20 a.m.), De La Fuente (8:30 a.m.) and Glawe (8:40 a.m.) following. Wochner begins the Final Round at 7:40 a.m., Tuesday, off No. 1.

From there, Houston looks to compete in NCAA Regional play. The 2023 NCAA Regionals will be held at six sites across the nation on May 15-17: Auburn University Club (Auburn, Ala.); Eagle Eye (Bath, Michigan); Bear's Best Las Vegas (Las Vegas); The Institute Golf Club (Morgan Hill, Calif.); Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla.) and The Cliffs at Keowee Falls (Salem, S.C.).
The Top Five teams and the low individual not on a qualifying team at each NCAA Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships set for May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
