Sophomore earns POTW honors after five homers
HOUSTON – Sophomore outfielder Cameron Nickens was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.Â
Nickens powered the Cougars to a 4-1 week hitting .375 (9-24) with nine runs scored, two doubles, five home runs and nine runs driven in. The sophomore had at least one home run in each of Houston's victories last week. He also had hits in every game and multiple hits in three contests.

Houston and Sam Houston meet for the first of three games on the season as part of the annual Sanders Cup at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday from Huntsville, Texas. The matchup can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on The Varsity Network app. It will be the final tune-up before American Athletic Conference play begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday against East Carolina from Sanders Field at Schroeder Park.
