Maswanganyi Fourth, Tuilefano All-American Again

South African sprinter finishes fourth in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Championships
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Houston track and field sprinter Shaun Maswanganyi finished fourth overall in the 60-meter dash on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Championships and shot put thrower Nu'uausala Tuilefano finished as a All-American Second Team honoree.
Maswanganyi, who entered the final with the fifth fastest time of a personal best 6.56 seconds, finished fourth overall and missed out on the podium by 0.01 seconds.
The fourth-place finish secures Maswanganyi's fourth individual All-American First Team honor and sixth including relays. Maswanganyi has nine All-American honors in total.
The sprinter becomes Houston's first 60-meter dash First Team All-American since 2019 and seventh in school history.
Houston's first competitor of the day, Nu'uausala Tuilefano, posted her highest finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships with an 13th place finish in the shot put. Tuilefano is now a back-to-back All-American Second Team award winner after finishing 15th in 2022. Tuilefano threw 16.10 meters to finish 13th.
Tuilefano became Houston's second indoor shot put All-American in 2022 after Cheryl Klein was a back-to-back All-American in 1986-87.
