Two-day, 54-hole tournament tees off Monday morning at Golf Club of Houston; Admission is FREE to all
HUMBLE, Texas – The University of Houston Women's Golf program will compete in front of the hometown fans as the Cougars host the ICON Invitational, beginning Monday morning at Golf Club of Houston.
Schools will play 36 holes beginning with an 8 a.m., shotgun start Monday. The Final Round tees off with an 8 a.m., shotgun start Tuesday.
Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.
The 2023 ICON Invitational features some of the nation's elite programs. This year's field includes three Top-20 teams and 11 teams among the Top 50 in the latest Golfstat national rankings.
THE CHEVRON CHAMPIONSHIP
The Chevron Championship, the first LPGA Tour Major of the season, will take place at The Club at Carlton Woods for the first time on April 20-23.
To further Chevron's commitment of providing access and opportunity for female collegiate golfers, the individual champion of the ICON Invitational will receive a playing spot in The Chevron Championship Official Pro-Am on April 18.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm, the Cougars will be represented by super senior Annie Kim, freshman Moa Svedenskiold, freshman Natalie Saint Germain, super senior Becca Earl and junior Delaney Martin.
Junior Nicole Abelar, freshman Alexa Saldana, sophomore Brooke Morales and sophomore Anna Economon will compete as individuals.
This season, Saint Germain leads the Cougars with a 71.73 scoring average. The Prague native has recorded three Top-10 finishes, including fourth-place showings at the Mo'Morial Invitational and the Battle at the Beach, and set a school record with a 64 in the Final Round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club on Sept. 26, 2022.
Fellow freshman Moa Svedenskiold stands second among the Cougars with a 71.87 average but leads the team with 10 rounds of par or better.
The Halmstad, Sweden, native has posted four straight Top-14 finishes in her last four event and shared medalist honors at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 23-24, 2022, becoming the first freshman in school history to win a tournament individual championship.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against an elite 16-team field featuring #10 Texas A&M, #11 USC, #18 Oklahoma State, #27 Iowa State, #28 SMU, #29 Texas Tech, #35 Tulsa, #40 Tennessee, #43 NC State, #45 Maryland, #50 North Texas, Charlotte, Illinois, Texas State and UTSA.
PAIRINGS
For Monday's first day, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
Svedenskiold begins the First Round at 8 a.m., in the first group off No. 1 with Kim (second group off No. 1), Earl (first group off No. 2), Saint Germain (second group off No. 2) and Martin (No. 3) following.
Abelar starts in the first group off No. 17 with Saldana (second group off No. 17), Morales (first group off No. 18) and Economon (second group off No. 18) following.

Following the ICON Invitational, Houston opens the month of March when it tees off at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on March 6-7.
From there, the Cougars will compete at the MountainView Collegiate. That three-day event will be held at MountainView Country Club in Saddlebrook, Ariz., on March 17-19.
