Super senior Annie Kim ties for 11th to lead Cougars in spring-opening tournament
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Battling wind, rain and cold temperatures throughout the day, the University of Houston Women's Golf program posted a score of 918 to finish fourth at the San Diego State Classic on Tuesday afternoon.
Competing on the 6,254-yard, par-72 course at The Farms Golf Club, #29 Houston finished with a score of 315 in Tuesday's Final Round.
Super senior Annie Kim finished the two-day tournament with a score of 228 to tie for 11th and lead the Cougars. Freshman Moa Svedenskiold tied for 14th at 229 while fellow freshman Natalie Saint Germain joined them among the Top-20 leaders with a score of 230 to tie for 17th.
Making her Houston debut after transferring from Wofford, super senior Becca Earl tied for 22nd at 231. Freshman Alexa Saldana tied for 51st at 243.
No. 30 Iowa State won the team championship with a score of 897 to finish four strokes ahead of No. 39 Georgia. No. 50 Denver finished third at 909 with UNLV (919), Oregon State (924), New Mexico (930), Washington State (933), BYU (934) and San Diego State (945) completing the Top 10.
Georgia's Caterina Don earned medalist honors with a score of even-par 216. Teammate Jo Hua Hung finished second at 217, while Iowa State's Karisa Chuk-Ak-Sorn came in third with a score of 219. Washington State's Darcy Habgood and Denver's Anna Zanusso tied for fourth at 221.

Following the San Diego State Classic, the Cougars return home to play host to the ICON Invitational at Golf Club of Houston on Feb. 27-28, in Humble, Texas.
From there, Houston opens the month of March when it tees off at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on March 6-7.
