Basketball, Football headline jam-packed 24 hours on University of Houston campus
HOUSTON – Two weeks ago, on Oct. 25, sports fans rejoiced as the sports equinox hit North America with the "Big Four" leagues – the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL – all holding games on the same day. This weekend, the University of Houston will feature its own sports showcase.
When Houston Women's Basketball tips off against Air Force at 7 p.m., Friday, inside the Fertitta Center, it will mark the start of three home games in under 24 hours. #7/6 Houston Men's Basketball battles Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, inside Fertitta Center followed by Football Homecoming at 6 p.m. vs. Cincinnati.
Are tickets available?
Adult tickets are available for as low as $10 and kids (under 12) tickets are on sale for as low as $5 to take in the action for Friday's Women's Basketball opener. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a 2023-24 schedule poster.
Men's Basketball's matchup against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is sold out. Fans looking to get in on the action can do so by purchasing seats through Houston's official secondary ticket provider, SeatGeek. The game will also air on ESPN+.
Houston Football tickets are available for as low as $15 to see the 29th all-time matchup against Cincinnati. Use the promo code STRONG to secure tickets to both the Cincinnati and Oklahoma State (Nov. 18) matchups for as low as $20. Secure your Cincinnati tickets here.
What activities are happening between Men's Basketball and Football?
Still haven't checked out Fan Fest at Cougar Alley? Make plans on Saturday with the space opening at 2 p.m. Fans can head over to Cullen Blvd. and take in all the college football action the day has to offer on a huge LED TV while enjoying interactive games and activities inside and surrounding the Bud Light Backyard. Red Bull will also be sampling its product.
For those looking to keep the kiddos entertained, check out the Kids' Zone near Schroeder Gate 1. The setup, which opens at 2 p.m., and features non-stop entertainment, includes a football toss, basketball toss, bounce house, cornhole, Connect 4 and sofa selfie spot.
Cougar Pride members can make their way to the athletic fund's tailgate which opens at 3 p.m. The tailgate will feature complimentary snacks, music and fun!
The Student Tailgate – sponsored by H-E-B, Coca-Cola, Dean of Students and SGA – located outside Gate 2, opens at 2 o'clock and features tailgate games, TVs, video games, food and giveaways.
Don't miss out on Cougar Walk, which gets underway 3:45 p.m., at Entrance 14. Take in the sounds of the Spirit of Houston and high-five your favorite student-athletes as they make their way into TDECU Stadium.
As kickoff nears, get inside TDECU Stadium early for "Happy Hour" to take advantage of $5 beer, $6 Cougar Fries and $7 margaritas from 4:30-5:15 p.m. at the Patron Patio and Fry Shack.
How will Saturday's activities impact parking?
Season ticket holders for both Men's Basketball and Football are encouraged to park in their assigned Football Parking location but are welcome to park in their assigned Men's Basketball Parking location. Of note: parking signage will reflect Football game day. Those who park in the Green Lot for Men's Basketball will see Blue Lot signage at the entrance but will be granted admittance with a Men's Basketball Green Lot parking pass.
Looking for an alternative to beat the traffic? Consider using the Metro Rail Purple Line which conveniently drops off near Gate 3 on the west side of TDECU Stadium. Complimentary rides are provided on the METRO Rail Red, Green, and Purple Lines for University of Houston students and University of Houston Football and Men's Basketball ticket holders during all regular season home games. Upon request by METRO Staff, students and ticket holders must furnish a current student identification card or valid game day admission pass.
