Cougars pick up three singles, doubles wins
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis program compiled three singles and three doubles wins on day one of the Rice Invite and Texas A&M Fall Invitational on Friday.
TEXAS A&M INVITATIONAL
Sophie Schouten and Sonya Kovalenko earned a pair of doubles wins in College Station, Texas as they defeated SMU's Millie Skelton and Reka Patel, 6-3, and Utah's Ana Luisa Cruz and Sara Akid, 6-0.
Schouten earned the lone singles win, coming from behind to defeat Utah's Cruz in a three-sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
RICE INVITATIONAL
At Rice, Laura Slisane and Maria Dzemeshkevich defeated Sarina Reinertsen and Nika Novikova of UT Arlington, 7-6(2) for Houston's third doubles win of the day.
Nina Skoric and Slisane earned two singles wins as Skoric earned the win against Magda Tuells (UTSA), 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 and Slisane knocked off Vittoria Baccino (UTSA), 6-4, 6-2.
