Tickets remain for Sunday’s tilt against Texas
HOUSTON – The #21 University of Houston Volleyball team has sold out the Fertitta Center for the first time in history. No buyable tickets remain for Saturday's match against #7 Texas. However, tickets still remain for Sunday's match, and students may claim tickets for both matches.
The sellout puts the Cougars on track to shatter its previous attendance record of 1,904 set in this season's home opener against #22 USC. Houston replaced the entirety of its top five home attendances last year, averaging 925 fans per match. Through five matches this season, the Cougars have had 5,002 fans enter Fertitta Center for Volleyball, averaging more than 1,000 per match.
Houston's record attendance for a women's sporting event at home is 6,023 set by women's basketball against Baylor on Feb. 17, 1993. Fertitta's volleyball capacity is set at 7,047.Â
Houston, who sits at 9-5 on the year, enters the weekend with the department's first winning streak in Big 12 Conference play after taking a pair of wins from West Virginia last weekend. The Cougars also are no stranger to ranked opponents this season, having battled #22 USC, #19 Kentucky, #10 BYU and #19 Kansas.Â
