Cougars tee off at Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., starting Saturday morning
NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Houston Women's Golf program continues a busy week to open its fall season when it tees off at the Schooner Fall Classic on Saturday morning.
Competing on the 6,112-yard, par-70 course at Belmar Golf Club, the Cougars will play 18 holes each day through Monday.
Houston enters the Schooner Fall Classic after finishing sixth at the season-opening Mo'Morial Invitational in Bryan-College Station, Texas on Wednesday.
Making her collegiate debut, freshman Natalie Saint Germain posted scores of 67-69 in the final two rounds to finish fourth on the individual leaderboard.
With her 67 in the Second Round of the Mo'Morial Invitational, Saint Germain became only the fourth freshman in school history to shoot 67 or lower, joining current teammate Delaney Martin (67, March 29, 2021 , Zoe Slaughter (67, March 19, 2021) and Hannah Screen (66, Nov. 3, 2018).
Saint Germain set a school record as the fastest freshman at that total or better, reaching it in her first event. Martin, Slaughter and Screen posted their scores in the fourth tournament of their careers.

MEET the COUGARS
In addition to Saint Germain, the Cougars will be represented by freshman Natalie Saint Germain, super senior Annie Kim, freshmen Alexa Saldana and Moa Svedenskiold and junior Nicole Abelar.
Kim joined Saint Germain among the Top-25 leaders with a score of 221 at the Mo'Morial Invitational after earning All-American Athletic Conference honors and becoming the first Cougar to compete as an individual qualifier in NCAA Regional play a year ago.
Saldana and Svedenskiold are competing in their first collegiate seasons for Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm, while Abelar joined Kim on the All-Conference team after tying for fourth at The American Championships in April 2022.

The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa State, Louisville, North Texas, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas State, Tulsa, UTSA, Virginia Tech and host Okla
PAIRINGS
For Saturday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Florida State and TCU, beginning at 9:30 a.m., off No. 10.
Abelar begins the day at 9:30 a.m., off No. 10, with Svedenskiold (9:40 a.m.), Saldana (9:50 a.m.), Kim (10 a.m.) and Saint Germain (10:10 a.m.) following.

Following the Schooner Fall Classic, the Cougars will take a break before returning to action at the Jim West Challenge, set for Oct. 23-24 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas, and hosted by Texas State.
Houston then closes out its fall schedule when it tees off at the Battle at the Beach, hosted by TCU at Club Campestre San Jose in San Jose del Cabo, B.C.S., Mexico on Oct. 28-30.
