California native joins Houston after two years at Texas State
HOUSTON – Alex Dickinson was added to the University of Houston baseball staff as the associate director of sports medicine, baseball head coach Todd Whitting announced Friday.Â
"I am excited to announce Alex Dickinson as our new athletic trainer for Houston Baseball," Whitting said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in regards to sports medicine and was highly recommended by her peers and other coaches across the country. Her enthusiasm and background in college and professional baseball is a perfect fit for our program"
Dickinson comes to Houston after two years at Texas Sate where she worked with baseball and women's volleyball.
Before coming to Texas State, Alex completed a rehabilitation athletic training residency with Texas Health Sports Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. She provided treatment and rehabilitation for TCU athletics with a focus on overhead athletes. Additionally, she coordinated and lead a 3D motion capture system to assess throwing mechanics for baseball pitchers.
Prior to the residency, Alex worked several seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets triple A affiliates as an assistant athletic trainer. She provided injury evaluation and daily treatments for top prospects and elite baseball athletes.
She first moved to Texas to obtain her Masters of Science in Athletic Training from Texas A&M. Before graduating in 2018, Alex worked with Texas A&M baseball and women's soccer.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and Texas Athletic Training Board. She has also obtained a Corrective Exercise Specialist certification.
