Nine Cougars Named All-America Scholar Athletes

Trio earn Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete award again
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Nine Houston softball student-athletes were named Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athletes on Monday.
The nine Cougars were among 7,527 collegiate student-athletes nationwide to earn the award and must have held a 3.50 GPA or better for the 2021-22 academic year.
Rock Benavides, Mattison Boyd, Kati Ray Brown, Bethany Busch, Amanda Carden, Aspen Howie, Paige Lott, LA Matthews and Kenna Wilkey posted 3.50 GPAs during the academic year.
Brown and Busch each earned their second Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete awards of their careers. Howie earned her third All-America Scholar Athlete award. The award was not given in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories.
