Cougars earn honor for seventh time in last eight seasons
HOUSTON – University of Houston Women's Golfers Ariana Saenz and Annie Kim were honored as Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars for their impressive work in the classroom during the 2021-22 season.
This marked the seventh time in the last eight seasons in which at least one Cougar was named a WGCA All-American Scholar.
Kim and Saenz were part of nearly 1,500 student-athletes to receive the award across all levels of NCAA athletics. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent with all student-athletes earning a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

ABOUT ANNIE KIM
Kim earned the first WGCA All-American Scholar of her career as a health major with a minor in biology.
Kim led the team with a 74.03 scoring average and 11 rounds of par or better, including a team season-low 67 in the Second Round of the MountainView Collegiate on March 19.
The Seoul native enjoyed five Top-25 finishes with a season-best fourth-place showing at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Oct. 4-6, 2021.
A two-time member of the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, Kim opened The American Championships with an even-par 72 and tied for 12th at 225 in her debut at the conference tournament. She was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team for the first time.
Kim will return to the Cougars in 2022-23 as a super senior.

ABOUT ARIANA SAENZ
Like Kim, Saenz received the first WGCA All-American Scholar honor of her collegiate career. She earned the award while studying human resources development in graduate school at the University of Houston.
Competing as a super-senior in 2021-22, the Porter, Texas, native played in 10 tournaments, posting nine rounds of par or better, including a season-low 70 in the Final Round of The Bruzzy late in the spring season.
Saenz etched her name in the Houston records after tying the school record with a 65 in the First Round of the Let Them Play Classic on May 20, 2021. She joined All-American Leonie Harm as the only Cougars to shoot 65 or lower.
