Cougars to play 36 holes Saturday at Traditions Club with the Final Round set for Sunday
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program tees off in its final regular-season team tournament this weekend when it competes at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club on Saturday morning.
Team will play 36 holes beginning with 7:30 a.m., Saturday, tee times on the 7,227-yard, par-72 course with the Final Round beginning at 7:30 a.m., Sunday.
The Cougars enter this weekend's tournament after finishing 12th at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on March 28-29 at The Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla., on March 28-29.
Junior Marcus Wochner shot 68-70 in the first two rounds and led the Cougars at 2-under 211 to tie for 22nd.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by senior Alexander Frances, junior Marcus Wochner, senior Braxton Watkins, senior Andrew Gibson and redshirt freshman Jacob Borow. Junior Austyn Reily will compete as an individual.
Frances leads the Cougars with a 71.77 scoring average and 14 rounds of par or better, including nine in the 60s. The Stege, Denmark, native posted three straight Top-25 finishes earlier this spring and captured the first collegiate title of his career with a score of 7-under 209 at the Border Olympics in February.
With his recent play, Wochner moved into third among the Cougars with a 72.57 scoring average and 11 rounds of par or better. The Holte, Denmark, native has finished among the Top-22 leaders in four of his last five tournaments, including an 11th-place showing at the All-American Intercollegiate.
Watkins stands second on the team with a 72.55 scoring average and 12 rounds of par or better. The Winthrop, Ark., native has enjoyed a pair of Top-10 finishes in 2021-22, including a fifth-place showing at the Cougars' own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in March.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will be part of a 12-team field, which includes six of the nation's Top-45 teams and three of the Top 10.
Houston will face No. 7 Texas Tech, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 32 New Mexico, No. 40 Louisville, No. 43 Little Rock, Baylor, Kent State, North Texas, Northern Illinois, UTSA and host and ninth-ranked Texas A&M.

PAIRINGS
For Saturday's first two rounds, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from New Mexico and Louisville.
Borow begins the day for the Cougars at 7:50 a.m., off No. 10 with Gibson (8 a.m.), Watkins (8:10 a.m.), Wochner (8:20 a.m.) and Frances (8:30 a.m.) following. Reily begins his day at 7:30 a.m., off No. 1.

Following the Aggie Invitational, the Cougars will send individual student-athletes to compete at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic. That tournament will be held at Walden Golf Club on Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas, on April 11-12.
The Cougars then take their first step in the postseason when they tee off at the American Athletic Conference Championships on April 22-24 at Southern Hills Plantation in Brooksville, Fla.
The winner of the league' annual postseason tournament receives an automatic bid to NCAA Regional play, set for May 16-18 at one of six sites across the nation.
