Women’s Golf Finishes First Day at The Bruzzy

Cougars tee off in Final Round at Waterchase Golf Club on Tuesday morning
FORT WORTH, Texas – University of Houston senior Annie Kim finished the first day of The Bruzzy with a score of 146 to lead the Cougars and stand in a tie for 19th at Waterchase Golf Club on Monday evening.
The Seoul native posted back-to-back 73s and tied with fellow senior Ariana Saenz for Monday's team-high honors with six birdies.
As a team, the Cougars recorded a team total of 600 to stand in 12th. Houston was one of eight teams to complete 36 holes before play was suspended due to darkness.
Saenz was tied for 50th at 151, while sophomore Nicole Abelar and senior Maria Jose Martinez were tied for 56th at 152. Sophomore Delaney Martin was tied for 66th at 155.
No. 17 Baylor held the first-day lead at -20 to stand 15 shots ahead of No. 7 Oklahoma State. No. 30 TCU stood in third at +3 while Tulane was in fourth at +4. No. 46 North Texas (+5), No. 13 Texas (+5), No. 37 Iowa State (+11), Tulsa (+12), No. 49 Oklahoma (+17) and Charlotte (+17) rounded out the Top-10 leaders.
Baylor's Gurleen Kaur held the first day after at 8-under 136 to finish two shots ahead of teammate Addie Baggarly. North Texas' Audrey Tan was in third at 139, while Baylor's Rosie Belsham was in fourth at 140.
Teams will complete the Second Round on Tuesday morning with the Final Round to begin immediately after.
This is the Cougars' final regular-season tournament of the year before heading to the American Athletic Conference Championships later this month.
