
Men’s Golf Finishes 1st Day at Colin Montgomerie-HBU Husky Invitational

Hanseung Chang, Drew Murdock represent Cougars as individuals at Augusta Pines Golf Club
SPRING, Texas – University of Houston redshirt freshman Drew Murdock stood in a tie for 27th following the first day of the Colin Montgomerie-HBU Husky Invitational at Augusta Pines Golf Club on Monday evening.
Murdock posted a score of 153 through the first 36 holes to join nine others in that group. Chang finished with a score of 159 and was tied with others for 60th on the 7,031-yard, par-72 course.
The Colin Montgomerie-HBU Husky Invitational was a recent addition to the Cougars' spring schedule.
Southeastern Louisiana stood atop the team leaderboard at 585 with Gonzaga in second at Gonzaga. Incarnate Word (596), Weber State (601) and UT Rio Grande Valley (604) rounded out the Top-Five leaders.
Individually, Southeastern Louisiana's Michael Landry fired back-to-back 70s to hold the first-day lead at 140 and stand three strokes ahead of Gonzaga's Charlie Magruder. Nicholls' Braxton Kuntz stood in third at even-par 144, while Incarnate Word's Jack Ward and Baylor's Zach Heffernan was tied for fourth at 145.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes beginning with an 8:15 a.m., shotgun start Tuesday.
