Women's Golf Finishes Second Round at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

Final Round tees off Sunday morning at University of Georgia Golf Course
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Houston Women's Golf program finished the Second Round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in 14th place on Saturday evening.
The Cougars posted a team score of 324 for a total of 632 through 36 holes on the 6,317-yard, par-72 layout and University of Georgia Golf Course. The elite tournament features 12 of the nation's Top-40 programs, including seven of the Top 20.
Sophomore and 2021 All-American Athletic Conference performer Delaney Martin was tied for 50th at 156. Senior Annie Kim was tied for 57th at 158, while senior Maria Jose Martinez was tied for 61st at 159. Sophomore Nicole Abelar was tied for 68th at 161, while senior Ariana Saenz stood in 77th at 166.
No. 4 South Carolina held the Second-Day lead at 586, while No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 16 Texas A&M were tied for second at 589. No. 12 Alabama stood in fourth at 598 with No. 31 Georgia (602), No. 38 Louisville (605), No. 13 USC (605), No. 17 Arkansas (606), No. 31 Georgia (609) and No. 30 Mississippi State (615) rounded out the Top 10.
Texas A&M's Hailee Cooper and Alabama's Polly Mack were tied atop the individual leaderboard at 144. Wake Forest's Rachel Kuehn, South Carolina's Mathilda Claisse and Mississippi State's Julia Lopez Ramirez were tied for third at 145.
The tournament wraps up with the Final Round on Sunday morning.

For Sunday's Final Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Charleston and Georgai Southern, beginning off No. 10 at 8:32 a.m.

Following the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, the Cougars close out their regular season when they compete at The Bruzzy at Winstar Golf Club in Thackerville, Okla., on April 11-12.
From there, Houston takes its first steps in the postseason when it competes at the American Athletic Conference Championships, set for April 17-19 at Pinehurst #6 – Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Cougars will learn their NCAA postseason fate during the Selection Show, airing at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, on Golf Channel.
Seventy-two teams and 12 individuals not on those teams will compete at six NCAA Regional sites across the nation. Those venues include Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif.); Vanderbilt Legends Club (Franklin, Tenn.); The Championship Course at UNM (Albuquerque, N.M.); University of Michigan Golf Course (Ann Arbor, Mich.); Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater, Okla.) and Seminole Legacy Golf Club (Tallahassee, Fla.).
