Cougars to compete at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, La., beginning Monday morning
LAFAYETTE, La. – The University of Houston Men's Golf returns to action when it tees off at the Louisiana Classics, beginning Monday morning at Oakbourne Country Club.
The Cougars will face student-athletes from Illinois State, Kansas State, Lipscomb, Little Rock, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Michigan, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, Texas A&M, UTSA and host Louisiana.
Monday's play begins with an 8 a.m., shotgun start with a 7:30 a.m., split-tee start for Tuesday's Final Round.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by seniors Alexander Frances, Andrew Gibson, Braxton Watkins, junior Marcus Wochner and redshirt freshman Jacob Borow.
Frances leads the Cougars with a 71.50 scoring average and 10 rounds of par or better, including six in the 60s. The Stege, Denmark, native has been playing some of the best golf of his career recently, posting six straight rounds of par or better and a pair of Top-Three finishes, including the individual championship at the Border OIympics.
Watkins stands second on the team with a 72.71 average and is tied with Gibson for second among the Cougars with seven rounds of par or better. Watkins has enjoyed four rounds of par or better in his last two tournaments.
Competing in his first season with the Cougars after transferring from Wichita State, Wochner fired two sub-par rounds during the final 36 holes at the Cabo Collegiate Invitational in the team's most recent tournament with a career-best 65, thanks to a pair of eagles, in the Final Round on March 1.

Following the Louisiana Classics, the Cougars return home to play host to their own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on March 21-22.
From there, the team will host the prestigious Valspar Collegiate Invitational at The Floridian Golf Club on March 28-29. That tournament annually features the nation's top collegiate programs.
