Lightning Suspends Play

Cougars, Cajuns resume action at 2 p.m. Saturday
LAFAYETTE, La. – Due to lightning in the area, Houston Baseball's series opener at Louisiana was suspended in the top of the eighth inning Friday afternoon from M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park. The contest will resume at 2 p.m. Saturday with the regularly scheduled middle game to follow.

At the time of the suspension, the matchup was tied at 5-5. Ian McMillan will be at first base, after reaching on a one-out single, when play resumes Saturday.

The Cougars used five hits to score four runs in the third inning. Zach Arnold crushed a two-run home run, the ninth of his career, to even the game at three-all. Anthony Tulimero followed with an RBI-single and Ryan Hernandez scored on a wild pitch for a 5-3 lead.

Brandon Uhse drove the first pitch of the game over the wall in left center for his seventh career home run, putting Houston ahead 1-0.Â

Houston starter Logan Clayton tossed 7.0 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits without a walk. The right-hander struck out six. Louisiana starter Tommy Ray lasted just 2.1 innings, permitting six hits and five runs alongside two walks and two strikeouts.
