TCU Takes MLB4 Finale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Eighth-ranked TCU scored five times across the first three innings in route to a 10-0 run-rule victory in eight innings during Sunday's finale at the MLB4 Tournament from Salt River Fields.

The Cougars (0-3) put together eight hits but batted .250 (3-for-12) with runners aboard including .000 (0-for-4) with runners in scoring position. Samuel Benjamin (2-for-4) and Ryan Hernandez (2-for-4) led Houston offensively. Â

Houston starter Kerry Wright (0-1) issued five first-inning walks and allowed two runs in 0.2 innings. Cougar reliever Jaycob Deese allowed Houston to keep its deficit within reach, permitting one run on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk in 5.0 innings.

Four TCU (2-1) players registered multiple hits including shortstop Tommy Sacco (3-for-4, 3 runs) and third baseman Brayden Taylor (3-for-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI). Starter Brett Walker (1-0) worked around seven hits and a pair of walks in 6.2 scoreless frames.
