American unveils dates for upcoming season
HOUSTON – The 2022 Houston Football schedule was released Thursday as the American Athletic Conference announced its members' conference slates.
The Cougars, coming off the program's third 12-plus win season in program history, open the season with consecutive road matchups at UTSA (Sept. 3) and at Texas Tech (Sept. 10).
Houston opens its home slate with three consecutive matchups at TDECU Stadium beginning Sept. 17 against Kansas. The Cougars and Rice Owls will meet for the 44th time as part of the Bayou Bucket Classic presented by H-E-B on Sept. 24.
The Cougars begin American Athletic Conference play against Tulane on Friday, Sept. 30. Other home American contests include USF (Oct. 29), Temple (Nov. 12) and Tulsa (Nov. 25 or Nov. 26).
Houston visits Memphis (Oct. 7), Navy (Oct. 22), SMU (Nov. 5) and East Carolina (Nov. 19). The American Football Championship will take place Saturday, Dec. 3.
Kickoff times for the first three weeks of the season are typically determined by mid-June. For games past the first three weeks of the season, kickoff times will be set by conference TV partners 12 days out, or in limited instances, six days out.
