Sampy takes first in the men's pole vault at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invite

With a personal best, Christyan Sampy earns first place against nation best
CLEMSON, S.C. – Pole vaulter Christyan Sampy highlighted the Cougars' final day at the Tiger Paw Invite at Clemson University on Saturday.
Sampy earned a first-place finish in the men's Pole Vault Invite clearing 5.47m. The personal best earned him the title in the event and placed him tenth nationally.
Competing against the best in the nation, the men's 4x400 relay team clocked a 3:08.08. A team of Tyrell Valentine, Jordan Booker, DJ Akindele and Quivell Jordan crossed the finish line in third place.
Booker also completed the men's 200 with an indoor personal best at 20.87. The junior finished in ninth place while Edward Sumler finished in 14th with a 21.07.
Valentine earned ninth in the men's 400 with a time of 46.78. The time was an indoor personal best for Valentine and Jordan took 23rd with a 47.66 time.

With the completion of the regular indoor season, the Houston track and field team turns its attention to the American Conference Indoor Championships.
