Volleyball Moves Up to #22 in Latest AVCA Poll

The Cougars completed their regular-season home schedule a perfect 14-0 last weekend
HOUSTON – The University of Houston volleyball team moved up one spot to #22 in the latest release of the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. The team has been ranked at #23 in the last four polls after entering at #24 on Oct. 17.
Houston (27-2, 18-0 The American) has won its last 19 matches, marking the third longest active win streak in the country. The team's perfect 14-0 record at home marks the first time that Houston has completed an undefeated home regular-season slate.
The Cougars broke the program record for longest win streak with its 18th consecutive victory last Friday in a 3-0 sweep against Memphis. The streak surpassed the previous best of 17 games during the 1994 season.
Houston then completed another undefeated weekend with a 3-1 win against SMU. The Cougars dropped its first set in nearly a month in the win, having gone 28 straight sets without a loss dating back to the third set against Wichita State on Oct. 21.
While head coach David Rehr's squad is placed at #X in the AVCA poll, the squad moved up one spot in the NCAA's RPI, which is the metric the NCAA selection committee uses in postseason determinations.
UP NEXT
The Cougars complete the regular season with a trip to Florida, battling South Florida at noon CT, Wednesday in Tampa followed by a rematch against No. 24 UCF in Orlando at 4 p.m. CT, Friday. A win against South Florida would guarantee Houston at least a share of the conference title in the team's final season in The American.
