At the American Athletic Conference Championships, Meyer became Houston's first woman cross country runner to earn American All-Conference honors when the Austin, Texas native finished 12th overall at the meet.
Â
Senior Kelly-Ann Beckford raced to the front of the pack with Meyer at the conference championships, finishing as Houston's second finisher. Beckford didn't race cross country this season until the Arturo Barrios Invitational (Oct. 29) at Texas A&M, the same course the Cougars will race on Friday. Although Beckford has only raced in two meets this fall, the Jamaican sprinter finished third and second for Houston in her two meets.
Â
Meyer will lead the women who finished 14th overall a year ago. Junior Sondos Moursy is Houston's top returning finisher from the 2021 region championship meet after running 22:50.1 in the 6k race in Waco, Texas.
Â
This will be the first 10k for the men this season after running three-consecutive 8k races. Freshman Miles Cox has been Houston's second finisher in each of the last two meets behind team leader Seagreaves.
Â
At the 2021 South Central Regional Championship, Seagreaves finished 66th overall behind graduate Devin Vallejo-Bannister who finished 60th. Houston only sent three men to the South Central Regional meet in 2021.
Â
Houston has 12 different Cougars that have raced in all six meets this season.
