Cougars to host 13 contests inside the Fertitta Center
HOUSTON – Coming off its 2020 American Athletic Conference West Division title, the University of Houston Volleyball program and Head Coach David Rehr announced the Cougars' 2021 schedule on Monday.
"Our schedule this season is one that will set us up to achieve our goals later in the year," Rehr said. "Facing teams from the Pac 12, Big 12 and SEC will not only make our team stronger but also prepare us for our journey to compete for a conference title."
The 32-match schedule features 13 contests inside the Fertitta Center, which will be back at full capacity in 2021. To purchase tickets, fans can click here. Fans can also view the full schedule here.
Houston returns all five of its All-Conference players from last season, including The American Setter and Freshman of the Year Annie Cooke. Joining the AVCA Southeast Region Freshman of the Year on the offensive front are outside hitters Abbie Jackson and Kortlyn Henderson, who were each named to The American All-Conference First Team last season. Jackson was a unanimous First-Team selection and earned a spot on Volleyballmag.com's All-America Honorable Mention list as well.
Coming back for her final year donning the Houston uniform is Second-Team All-Conference honoree libero Torie Frederick, who led the charge in the back row last season with 219 digs against conference foes, a mark that led the league. Assisting Frederick with Houston's stifling defense is middle blocker Rachel Tullos, who earned the second All-Conference accolade of her career a year ago after leading the league with 21 solo blocks.
Rehr enters his third season leading the Cougars, taking Houston to new heights in each of his first two years. Along with back-to-back American Athletic Conference Championship appearances, Rehr has also mentored more All-Conference players (8) than any other school in the league since his arrival.
