Cougars add two outside hitters, a setter and a backrow player
HOUSTON – Coming off a 2020 American Athletic Conference West Division title, the University of Houston program has added four student-athletes to its 2021 roster, Head Coach David Rehr announced Monday.
The Cougars welcome a trio of transfers in Kate Georgiades, Grayson Schirpik and Kennedy Warren, along with an incoming freshman in Audrey Tucker. These four additions bring Houston's total to eight newcomers in 2021, as they will be joined by Grace Wiley, Barakat Rahmon, Ryleigh Whitekettle and Bryshanna Brown.

KATE GEORGIADES
Libero/DS / 5-9

TCU / College Station HS
PRIOR TO HOUSTON
Ranked second on TCU in digs (227) and digs per set (2.77) in her freshman campaign … Tallied a pair of 20-dig outings, including a career-high 25 digs in a five-set match against Tarleton State … Recorded 10 matches with double-digit digs … Posted a career-high five service aces in the win over Oklahoma … Named to the Dean's Honor List and a TCU Scholar for the Fall 2020 semester.
HIGH SCHOOL
A three-time First-Team All-District player at College Station HS, where she won a district and regional championship in 2017 … Named to the AVCA Phenom list in 2017 … A 2018 TWSA 5A All-State Honorable Mention honoree … Awarded the District 19 5A MVP in 2019, having also received a GHCVA 5A Defensive Player of the Year accolade and as well.

Daughter of Molly and George Georgiades … Has a brother who played baseball at Stephen F. Austin … A member of the National Honor Society in 2019 and also volunteered at the Aggieland Humane Society … Lists Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady and Michael Jordan as her biggest influences … Majoring in exercise science with hopes to become an orthopedic physician's assistant.

Tallied 22 kills in 18 sets played, to average 1.36 kills per frame in her freshman season at TCU … Posted a career-high nine kills against Texas Tech to help lead the Horned Frogs to their first win of the year.
HIGH SCHOOL
A four-time 17-5A All-District honoree at Rouse HS, where she was named District MVP twice in her career … Helped lead her team to district championships all four years, having reach the state championship in her sophomore season … Guided her quad to a regional semifinals appearance in her junior and senior campaigns … Holds the program record for career kills (1.536) and service aces (220) … Also competed for the track and field team, qualifying for the state championships in high jump.

Spent her first three seasons competing for the Idaho Vandals where she was named to the Big Sky All-Conference Team twice, earning First-Team honors in 2021 … Landed a spot on the Second-Team All-Conference squad in 2019 after leading her team with 3.19 kills per set during league action … Named Big Sky Player of the Week twice in 2021, once as Offensive POW and once as Defensive POW … Tied a career-high 25 kills in the win over Southern Utah (Jan. 21, 2021) … Appeared on the University of Portland All-Tournament Team (2018) after averaging 3.33 kills per set in three matches …

A four-year letterwinner at Peaster High School, where she won three district championships and compiled a 153-33 record with the Greyhounds … Earned back-to-back regional championships from 2015-16 … Named the TAVC 3A Player of the Year in 2016 and TAVC 3A Hitter of the Year in 2017 … Appeared on the 2016 AVCA Phenom List … Compiled 2,107 kills and 211 aces in her career … Also competed on her high school's tennis team, qualifying for the state tournament in 2015 and 2017.
