Marcus Jones named preseason first-team All-American punt returner
HOUSTON – Ten Houston Football student-athletes were named to the Phil Steele's Preseason All-AAC Team as the respected college football author released his annual magazine this week.
Marcus Jones was recognized as a first-team preseason All-American at punt returner by the publication, his second preseason All-America honor this summer. Jones was also a first-team preseason All-AAC pick at punt returner and second-team selection at cornerback.
Junior defensive lineman Derek Parish, junior tight end Christian Trahan, freshman punter Laine Wilkins and senior cornerback Damarion Williams represented Houston on the second team.
Sophomore wide receiver Nathaniel Dell, junior defensive lineman Logan Hall, junior linebacker Donavan Mutin and senior kicker Dalton Witherspoon earned third-team honors.
Senior center Kody Russey was selected as fourth-team pick.
The Cougars open the 2021 season on Sept. 4 inside NRG Stadium against Texas Tech for the Texas Kickoff.
