Houston 4x100-meter Relay Advances to Saturday Final

Houston women advance to Final of 4x100-meter for first time since 2012
HOUSTON – For the first time since 2012 he University of Houston women will compete in the Final of the 4x100-meter relay at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Houston 4x100-meter relay comprised of Camille Rutherford, Brianne Bethel, Samiyah Samuels and Tristan Evelyn survived and will advance to Saturday's final behind a time of 43.57 and a second-place finish in their heat.
Mikaila Martin and Samuels added to their extensive resumes, earning Second Team All-America Honors and Honorable Mention All-America honors, respectively. Martin closed out the week with a 12th -place finish in the Hammer Throw after taking third in the opening heat with a toss of 66.08 (216-9). She becomes the first Cougar woman to earn All-American honors in the event, Samuels finished 18th in the Long Jump with a series-best leap of 6.12m (20-1).
In the 100-meter Camille Rutherford earned Second Team All-American honors after finishing 10th at 11.40. Rutherford was trailed by Bethel who earned Honorable Mention All-America honors after finishing 18th at 11.49.
