HOUSTON – University of Houston Volleyball sophomore outside hitter Abbie Jackson was named to Volleyball.com's All-America Honorable Mention.
Â
Jackson finished her sophomore campaign emerging as one of the most prolific offensive players in the country, having ranked in the top-25 in points per set with 4.94. The Gig Harbor, Wash., native also completed the season No. 32 in the country with 4.26 kills per set.
Â
During American Athletic Conference action, Jackson ended the year leading the league in both kills (4.68) and points (5.61) per set, along with total service aces (19). As a result of her play against league foes, Jackson became a unanimous First-Team All-Conference selection for the first time in her career.
Â
On Feb. 12, Jackson posted a career-high 32 kills in the win over SMU, marking the most kills by a Houston player since Brookah Palmer recorded 31 on Oct. 7, 2015. She tallied five 20-kill performances in conference play, along with four other 10-dig outing, including a career-high 17 digs against Memphis, to complete a trio of double-doubles.
Â
Jackson was one of three players from The American to appear on Volleyballmag.com's All-America team, joining UCF's McKenna Melville and Temple's Germ Grimshaw. This is the second year in a row Houston has received an honor from Volleyballmag.com, as sophomore Rachel Tullos was awarded Freshman All-America Honorable Mention honors in 2019.
