Houston Places Four on All-Conference Team

Fredgaard named league’s Player of the Year; Slaughter honored as Freshman of the Year; Joined on All-Conference Team by Normann, Martin
HOUSTON – University of Houston sophomore Karen Fredgaard was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and Zoe Slaughter was recognized as the league's Freshman of the Year on Tuesday. Fredgaard and Slaughter were joined on the All-American Athletic Conference Team by freshmen Anne Normann and Delaney Martin.
This marked the third straight year in which the Cougars put four student-athletes on the All-Conference Team.
Fredgaard became the second Cougar to receive the program's third conference Player of the Year. Leonie Harm earned back-to-back honors in 2018 and 2019. Slaughter received the first conference Freshman of the Year honor in program history.
Tulsa's Annie Young was named the league's Coach of the Year.
The Cougars were joined on the All-Conference Team by Ana Laura Collado (UCF), Tunrada Piddon (UCF), Dorthea Forbrigd (East Carolina) Julie Boysen Hillestad (East Carolina), Melanie Green (USF), Kennedy Pedigo (SMU), Lilly Thomas (Tulsa) and Lorena Tseng (Tulsa).

ABOUT KAREN FREDGAARD
Standing at No. 7 in the latest Golfstat individual rankings, Fredgaard has established herself as one of the nation's premier amateur student-athletes. The Asserbo, Denmark, native leads the Cougars with a 70.27 scoring average and 12 rounds of par or better.
Fredgaard has earned three Top-Five finishes and captured the first individual title of her collegiate career at the UCF Challenge on Jan. 31-Feb. 2. She was honored as the Golfweek National Player of the Week and The American Player of the Week (the first of two weekly honors in 2020-21) following that performance.
Most recently, she fired a Final-Round 67 to surge into third at 218 at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
Earlier this month, Fredgaard finished third at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur as only the second Cougar to compete in that elite event.

ABOUT ZOE SLAUGHTER
A true freshman from Houston's Memorial Senior High, Slaughter ranks second on the team with a 73.33 scoring average and nine rounds of par or better.
Slaughter has enjoyed a pair of Top-10 individual finishes, including a season-best second-place showing at the MountainView Collegiate on March 19-21. She was named The American Player of the Week for that effort.
She followed that with a ninth-place finish at The Bruzzy on March 28-29 and finished seventh at The American Championships with a score of 221 in her most recent action.

ABOUT ANNE NORMANN
An award-winning international player, Normann has competed in six tournaments this season, posting a 73.67 scoring average with three Top-20 showings.
She earned the first Top-10 finish of her collegiate career with a seventh-place showing at the Clover Cup after closing that tournament with a 69 in the Final Round. The Rungsted, Denmark, native enjoyed her best finish as a Cougar with a fourth-place showing at the MountainView Collegiate, thanks to 68s in the First and Final Rounds.

ABOUT DELANEY MARTIN
The third freshman in the Cougars' All-Conference group, Martin has posted a 73.50 scoring average with two Top-10 finishes in her inaugural collegiate season.
She opened her career with a seventh-place finish at the Texas State Invitational on Feb. 8-9 and tied for fifth at The Bruzzy on March 28-29, thanks to a career-best 67 in the Final Round.

The Cougars will learn their postseason destination during the NCAA Selection Show, starting at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 28 on GOLF Channel.
Selection coverage will be the start of coverage of the 2021 NCAA Women's Golf Championships by GOLF Channel. The network will provide highlights from Regional play leading up to coverage of the NCAA Championships to be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
GOLF Channel has provided live coverage of the NCAA Championships since 2015.
The 2021 NCAA Regionals will be held at one of four sites across the country: University Club (Baton Rouge, La., LSU) Scarlet Course – OSU Golf Club (Columbus, Ohio, Ohio State); University of Louisville Golf Club (Louisville, Ky., Louisville) and Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif., Stanford).
The low six teams and the low three individuals not from those teams from each NCAA Regional will compete at the NCAA Championships, set for May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
