Houston split four games with USF over the weekend at Schroeder Park … Cougar pitching shined, posting a 2.31 ERA in 35.0 innings … all four starting pitchers went at least 6.2 innings including a pair of 8.0-inning performances from Carter Henry and Robert Gasser … three Cougars hit .300-plus on the week, led by Brad Burckel's .429 average (6-for-14) … Will Pendergrass struck a grand slam and Robert Gasser provided another strong start, helping Houston snap its seven-game losing streak with a 9-2 victory against USF in the first of two games Saturday afternoon from Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park … Ian McMillan matched a career high with three hits highlighted by delivering a two-out, two-run single in the fourth to put Houston up 2-1 … Gasser (5-3) tossed a career-high 8.0 innings, working around six hits and three walks while striking out seven and allowing two runs … USF pushed across five runs in the 10th inning, spoiling a strong outing from Houston starter Jaycob Deese as the Bulls outlasted Houston, 8-4 in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon … USF capitalized on two Houston errors in the 10th, plating the go-ahead run on the first miscue … Houston was unable to string things together offensively, producing just two hits in a 4-0 seven-inning loss to USF in the first of two contests Sunday afternoon … Houston grabbed three runs in the seventh inning, including the go-ahead RBI-double from Brad Burckel to slip past USF, 5-2 on Sunday afternoon … Houston starter Carter Henry (1-2) delivered a gutsy performance to help the Cougars earn the four-game split … Houston will play three of its final four AAC series on the road, beginning Friday with a doubleheader at Tulane … all four contests in New Orleans can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on Stretch Live.
