Cougars add more talent with addition of LSU Transfer
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team and Head Coach Ronald Hughey continues to reload and are happy to announce the addition of LSU transfer Tiara Young.
"Tiara Young is a dynamic play maker," said Head Coach Ronald Hughey. "She is two-level scorer. She can get to the rim, shoot the pull-up and is improving upon her three-point shot. The best thing about her is her attitude towards the game. She is a relentless worker and wants to write her own story. As a player she will remind you a lot of Laila Blair, with her ability to get to the basket and create her own shot. She is one of the top guards in the country. She will excel in our up-tempo system."
Young joins the Cougars after spending the last two seasons at LSU. The Shreveport native appeared in 29 games during her freshman season, making nine starts. Young was an active member of the LSU offense and was third on the team in assists with 37 in her debut season. She closed out her first year in Baton Rouge averaging 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds.
This past season, Young appeared in 22 games with two starts. As a sophomore, Young was third on the team in scoring after averaging 8.2 points per game, in addition to 3.6 rebounds per contest. Young closed out the 2020-21 season with 33 assists and was second on the team in the category.
Young joins Fatou Diagne, Ash'a Thompson, and Kendall Brown in a signing class loaded with talent.
