Houston Set to Host Lone Star Invitational

Cougars to compete as individuals in 54-hole tournament at Golf Club of Houston in recent addition to spring schedule
HUMBLE, Texas – Four University of Houston Women's Golfers will compete at the Lone Star Invitational, beginning Monday morning at Golf Club of Houston in a recent addition to the Cougars' schedule.
Under the direction of Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell, junior Maria Jose Martinez, junior Annie Kim, senior Ariana Saenz and freshman Delaney Martin will compete as individuals.
Martin stands fourth among the Cougars with a 73.50 scoring average and has totaled four rounds of par or better. The Boerne, Texas, native tied for fifth at The Bruzzy with a score of 2-under 216 on March 28-29.
Saenz had enjoyed five rounds of par or better, while Kim has added four and posted a 19th-place finish at the season opening UCF Challenge on Jan. 31-Feb. 2. Martinez has competed in four tournaments to date this season
The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins with 36 holes Monday with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday morning.

The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Baylor, BYU, Kansas, SMU, Texas State and Tulane.

Following the Lone Star Invitational, the Cougars take their first step in the postseason when they compete in the American Athletic Conference Championships on April 18-20 on Pinehurst #6 at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
The winner of the annual postseason tournament receives the league's automatic bid, scheduled for May 10-12. This season's NCAA Regionals will be held at University Club (Baton Rouge, La., LSU) Scarlet Course – OSU Golf Club (Columbus, Ohio, Ohio State); University of Louisville Golf Club (Louisville, Ky., Louisville) and Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif., Stanford).
Top teams from each NCAA Regional will compete at the NCAA Championships, set for May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
JOIN the P.A.R. 4 CLUB
Fans are invited to join The P.A.R. 4 Club to support Houston Women's Golf. P.A.R. 4 Club members provide financial support directly to Houston Women's Golf for needs beyond the program's operating budget.
