Houston could not reverse its fortunes against Wichita State, dropping all four contests in Wichita, Kansas, over the weekend … Wichita State scored six runs in the fifth inning to unlock a scoreless tie en route to a 10-2 victory against Houston in the first of two contests Friday afternoon … Brandon Uhse extended his on-base streak to 10 games and hit streak to seven with a fourth-inning single … Brad Burckel notched his eighth multi-hit game of the season and has 17 hits in his last 17 games behind a 2-for-3 performance … Houston committed four errors and could not solve Shocker pitching, falling 7-1 to Wichita State on Friday night … Houston starter Robert Gasser (4-3) allowed a career-high 10 hits alongside six runs (four earned) in 5.2 innings … Wichita State's Hunter Gibson struck a grand slam and the Shockers cashed in with two outs in a 10-1 victory against Houston in the grand opening of Riverfront Stadium on Saturday afternoon in front of 7,509 spectators … six Cougars produced as many hits with the top-four in the order contributing one hit each … nine-hole hitter Ian McMillan struck his third home run of the season, a solo homer to right field in the seventh … Wichita State used a strong start, highlighted by a four-run first inning, to race past Houston, 13-2 in seven innings and complete the four-game sweep on Sunday afternoon … the Shockers (19-9, 7-1 AAC) pushed across four more on two hits in the fifth … one inning later, freshman Derek Shaver belted a grand slam, stretching Wichita Stat's advantage to 11 runs … Houston first baseman Adam Becker (1-for-3) struck his first collegiate home run, clubbing a two-run shot over the left field wall in the fourth … Houston opens an eight-game homestand Friday when it welcomes ECU for the first of four … Friday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. with the finale set for 45 minutes following Game 1.
