Houston Teams Highlight Outdoor Rating Index

Cougars made big statements at Texas Relays
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program highlights the first edition of the NCAA Track & Field Rating Index with the men coming in at No. 6 and the women's squad sitting at No. 23.

After a strong weekend of competition at the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Victor Lopez Classic both teams are among the top-25 in the country.

The Houston men picked up some of the best marks in the country this past week as Nicholas Alexander, Travis Collins, Edward Sumler IV and Shaun Maswanganyi won the Clyde Littlefield 4x100-meter relay with an NCAA-leading time of 38.49. Another Houston 4x100-meter relay squad made up of Jordan Booker, Dylan Brown, Jacarias Martin and Christian Hamerblin posted the eighth fastest time of the weekend at 39.50. Maswanganyi continues to impress, clocking both the third and the seventh fastest times in the 200-meter this past weekend at 20.31 and 20.66. Quivell Jordan paced the Cougars in the long hurdles with the eighth fastest time of the weekend at 50.50 to take second in the event.

On the women's side, Camille Rutherford paces the Cougars in the 100-meter after clocking the sixth-fastest time of the weekend at 11.32. Cecilia Tamayo-Garza continues to have a fantastic season and clocked the fifth-fastest time in UH history and the sixth-fastest of the weekend in the 200-meter at 23.16. Nora Monie secured both the program record and the seventh-best throw of the weekend in the Shot Put at 55-81 (183-1).

Houston returns to action on Saturday at the Carl Lewis International Complex for the Houston Alumni Invitational.

HOUSTON ATTENDANCE POLICY
Limited tickets for Houston Track & Field will now be sold on a single-game, general admission basis while supplies last. Fans are encouraged to act quickly and purchase advanced single-game tickets prior to their arrival on campus due to limited availability.

All facilities and related spring sporting events will operate at 25 percent capacity of available seating throughout the remainder of the 2021 season.

For fans wishing to attend any of these home events this spring, an exclusive pre-sale ticket offer will be made available to existing season ticket holders and donors prior to the general public on-sale which begins on Monday, March 15 at 9 a.m. CT. Â
