Cougars Set for Tuesday Morning Clash

Senior Day festivities scheduled for postgame
HOUSTON – The Houston tennis team will celebrate Senior Day on Tuesday directly after it takes on Cincinnati at 9 a.m. CT at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.Â
Originally scheduled for 10 a.m., the match was moved up due to potential rain in the Houston area. The two seniors in the program are Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Phonexay Chitdara.Â
This marks the team's third American Athletic Conference match of the season as the Cougars look to bounce back after dropping a narrow 4-3 battle to Memphis on March 12. Both Azul Pedemonti and Blanca Cortijo Parreno earned individual victories that day, plus the team earned the doubles point. Â

SENIOR DAY FUNÂ
Both Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Phonexay Chitdara will be honored after the match as they prepare to graduate from the University this Spring. Both transfers coming to Houston in 2019, they have each become leaders and top competitors for the program. Â
Playing mainly in the top spot, Kendall – Woseley has gone 15 victories in singles play while Chitdara has amassed 16 wins mostly in the second spot. Â
Chitdara is set to graduate with a degree in political science and a minor in retailing and consumer science. Kendall - Woseley is prepared to gradaute with a major of technical leadership and Innovation management,Â
PEDEMONTI POWERÂ
Sophomore Azul Pedemonti has been rolling for the Red and White with six singles victories and five doubles victories this year. Pedemonti has not lost her singles match since January 18 against Texas A&M. Â
The Argentina native was recognized for her efforts the week of March 2 when The American Athletic Conference named her the Player of the Week. Â
Last season she went 8-5 in single play and 9-5 in doubles action before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. Â
SERIES HISTORY
Houston has defeated Cincinnati both times the two programs have faced, first in 2002 and next in 2015. The most recent match in March 2015 ended with a resounding 6-0 victory for the home Cougars.Â
Head coach Helena Besovic has never coached against the Bearcats since joining the Cougars' program.Â

The Cougars travel to New Orleans for a pair of meetings against Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana later in the week.   Â
