
Chase Farris Qualifies for NCAA Championships

Cougar diver is set to join pair of swimmers at NCAA Championships
HOUSTON – University of Houston junior Chase Farris becomes the first Cougar diver since 2015 to qualify for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships after securing a fifth-place finish in the platform at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Farris will join Mykenzie Leehy and Ioanna Sacha at the 2021 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships as the Cougars send both swimming and diving personnel to the Championships for the first time since 2009.

The junior finished third in the prelims of the event with a five-dive scoring total of 271.75 with an average score of 54.35.Â

In the final of the event, Farris secured a fifth-place finish with a score of 538.90. The fifth round of both the prelims and finals proved to be decisive for Farris as the junior scored 58 points in each round after successfully completing the Forward 2 ½ Somersault 1 Twist Pike.

The NCAA Championships are set to take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. from March 17-20. Live championship coverage will air on ESPN3 for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday. ESPNU will air a two-hour show at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 6.
