KYLE, Texas – University of Houston freshman Delaney Martin stood in a tie for 16th at +2 when Second-Round play at the Texas State Invitational was suspended due to darkness.
Making her collegiate debut, Martin fired a 73 in the morning session. The TMI Episcopal product began her day off No. 18 and overcame a bogey on No. 2 with her lone birdie of the opening round on the par-5 ninth hole.
In the afternoon session, Martin made nine pars and a bogey on No. 8 before play was suspended.
Martin was one of three Cougars competing as individuals on the 6,249-yard course at Plum Creek Golf Course.
Junior Maria Jose Martinez and freshmen Zoe Slaughter were tied for 51st at +9.
Tulsa held the team lead at -12, while Sam Houston State stood in second at -7. Central Arkansas (+2), Texas State (+3), Rutgers (+10) and UTSA (+10) rounded out the Top-5 team leaders.
Individually, Tulsa's Lorena Tseng and Sam Houston State's Hanna Alberto stood atop the leaderboard at -11. Tulsa's Haley Greb was in third at -5.
Teams will finish the Second Round on Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes to immediately follow.

Following the Texas State Invitational, Houston will play host to its own ICON Invitational on Feb. 22-23 at Golf Club of Houston.
The Cougars welcome an elite field, including Baylor, Kent State, LSU, Michigan State, North Texas, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State and Texas Tech.
From there, the Cougars will tee off at the Clover Cup at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., on March 13-15.
