Hernandez Highlighted on Bobby Bragan Watch List

Cougar infielder lone AAC representative on list
HOUSTON – University of Houston junior infielder Ryan Hernandez is among 48 student-athletes to appear on the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List, announced Wednesday.
The award is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity. Hernandez, who finished second in the American Athletic Conference in home runs (5) in 2020 and led the Cougars with 14 RBIs, is baseball's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative in addition to serving as a Coogs' All-In Diversity & Inclusion Council member.
The Boston, Mass., native is the lone AAC student-athlete to be represented and is one of 12 representatives from a program in Texas.
The Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award began in 2017 as an honor awarded to the top college hitter in Texas. In 2019, it expanded to a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. In 2020, it transitioned to a national award; however, no winner was announced due to the shortened season.
The 2021 winner will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.
