3rd-Straight Week Cougar Honored by American

HOUSTON – For the fourth time this season, University of Houston sophomore Kate Georgiades was honored as the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The American has honored a Cougar for Defensive Player of the Week for three-straight weeks. Junior Rachel Tullos won DPOW the previous two weeks.

Houston now has a 21-5 overall record this season and stands alone in second place in the American standings. The 21 wins marks the most in program history since 2000. The team's 11 AAC wins are the most conference wins since joining the conference.

ABOUT KATE GEORGIADES
In two matches last week, Georgiades averaged 6.63 digs per set and added 11 assists on the weekend.

Georgiades totaled 53 digs on the weekend including 39 digs at Wichita State, two off a season-high.

The libero helped Houston to 139 total digs, including 91 against the Shockers, the second-most of the season.

UP NEXT
The Cougars host East Carolina and Cincinnati in the Fertitta Center Nov. 12 and 14. Both matches are slated for 1 p.m. CT first serves.
