FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Houston senior Annie Kim fired a 3-under 69 to lead the Cougars and move into a tie for third following the Second Round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Kim played bogey-free golf until her final hole of the day and fell just one stroke shy of tying her career low. The Seoul, South Korea, native started her day with five straight pars before draining back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15-16.
 
After three more pars, she enjoyed her third birdie of the day on the 540-yard, par-5 second hole and made her final birdie on the par-4 sixth hole.
 
With her total, Kim moved into a tie for third with Arkansas teammates Miriam Ayora and Cory Lopez.
 
As a team, the Cougars lowered their First-Round total by eight shots and stood in sixth with a 36-hole total of 602.
 
Host Arkansas held the team lead at 569 to stand 11 strokes in front of UCLA. Texas Tech (588), Louisville (598) and Arizona (600) rounded out the Top Five with Mississippi (607), North Carolina (607), Illinois (610) and Tennessee (618) completing the Top 10.
 
Sophomore Delaney Martin joined Kim among the Top-15 leaders, tying for 13th at 149. Junior Karen Fredgaard was tied for 37th at 155 while senior Ariana Saenz was tied for 44th at 159. Senior Maria Jose Martinez stood in 50th at 161.
 
Arkansas' Brooke Matthews held the Second-Round lead at 6-under 138 to finish three shots ahead of UCLA's Alessia Nobilio. Texas Tech's Amy Taylor stood in sixth at 144, while Louisville's Hana Ryskova was in seventh at 145.
 
The tournament continues with the Final Round on Wednesday.

Following the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, the Cougars close out their fall schedule when they competes at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 17-18 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas.
 
From there, Houston will take its winter break before opening the spring season at the UCF Challenge on Feb. 6-8 at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando.
